Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou who was participant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena is his older sister, and also a drummer. Lee was just two years old when his father decided to move the family to California. He also received his first drumsticks when he was four, and the first drum set when he was 16. Lee dropped out of high school to pursue music as a career which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick as a teenager. The main influences on his drumming are John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
